Prey listings

- - -Xx- - - h e r e . . . is the spots for prey. Living in the mountains are hard, and prey isn't plentiful, but we manage to get by. Here are some of the things you may find in our pile, in order from Most Common, to Least Common.



Mice --{Very Common}-- Although mice are common, they're often bait for larger prey. We hunt them whenever they cross, but we don't make a point to hunt them. Mice are often stupid, and venture so close to the camp, that kits catch them.

Fish --{Very Common}-- Fish are always in teh river, so they're easy to catch if the Clan needs food. It's always right there, and it's the first thing kits taste. It's not the desired meal, but food is better than nothing.

Water Voles --{Common}-- They're found near the Kit River mostly. They're clumsy and slow, but aren't afraid to dive into the water. We are not too found of them, but we'll take any food we can get.

Thrush --{Uncommon}-- Thrushes are nearer to the Dark Grove, but still scattered about the territory. They are often seen, but don't often come close enough to catch one.

Squirrels --{Rare}-- Squirrels are mostly found in teh Dark Grove, which we rarely enter, or possibly scattered in the trees. They're very hard to catch, especiialy because they have dens inside the trees so we can't get them.

Ravens --{Rare}-- Though there's a lot of them, it's said to be bad luck hunting by the Raven Tree, so ost stay away. And also the Dark Grove. If cats are starving, a few brave cats will go hunt for them, but they're not the most preferred anyway.

Eagles --{Rare}-- Eagles are the same thing as Hawks, but they come around more often. They nest up here, so they need more food, but they're smart about it. Usually cats will stalk the Eagle for a while, to fins it's nest, before killing it.

Hawks --{Very Rare}-- We use the hungry hawks, swooping down to catch mice, as food. Right when they grab the mouse, the patrol attacks, killing the large bird. However, Hawk's usually hunt farther away than our territory.

Vultures --{Very rare}-- A large amount of animals die up here in the mountains, so, in turn, there would be a lot of vultures for the pickings. When one is spotted, a patrol usually attacks, and kills it. Vulturesa are mainly for elders and kits, because the meat is easy to chew.

Caribou --{Uncommon}-- & Deer --{Extremly Rare}-- These creatures travel up the mountain occasionally, but they're extremely hard to catch, even with a whole patrol. Usually if we catch one, we hunt the struggling ons, or the babies. Carbou try to fight back.



Eggs --{Extremely Extremely Rare}-- Eggs of any bird species are very rare and hard to find. The inside is delicious, and a scrumptious meal for anyone, quite a delicacy. However, all eggs found, go straight to the medicine cat, so, eggs are usefull for them, too. If the medicine cat has no need for them, then the cat who brought them in, can eat them, and share if they want to. Eggs are always high up in trees, and an Eagle's or Hawk's eggs are teh best.
